The Baltimore Jewish Council fosters cooperation and understanding within the Jewish community; builds relationships and mutual understanding with ethnic, racial, and religious groups across Maryland; advocates at all levels of government for social justice and public resources on issues of concern to the Jewish community; and through education and action, promotes strong support for Israel and the Jewish people at home and throughout the world.

  • 2015 Yom HaShoah Essay Contest

    This year's Yom HaShoah essay contest asks students in grades 9-12 "Why should the lessons of the Holocaust be passed on to a new generation? Suggest what young people can do to combat and prevent prejudice, discrimination and violence in our world today."

    The deadline for entries is March 13, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. and should be submitted to essay@baltjc.org. Winners will be notified on April 13th and announced at the Yom HaShoah Commemoration on April 19th.
