Responsible for dealing with a broad variety of social and economic justice matters, including public education, neighborhoods, housing, hunger and homelessness, anti-Semitism, racism, discrimination, and church/state concerns.

INTER-ETHNIC TASK FORCE

| This task force promotes dialogue and understanding between Jewish and other local Baltimore ethnic communities. Meetings are held on an ad-hoc basis and focus on matters of mutual concern and relevance to the respective groups. Current programs involve representatives from the Greek and Hispanic communities. |

INTERFAITH DIALOGUE

Provides an opportunity for members of various religious traditions to gather and discuss issues of common concern. The group meets approximately four times per year on topics of relevance. Past sessions focused on such issues as: Religious Traditions, The Role of Women, Islam in America , and Jerusalem.

BETHEL AME/BJC DIALOGUE PROGRAM

HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE

| The Holocaust Remembrance Commission is committed to honoring the memory of the millions who perished during the Nazi era. Teacher-training workshops, a survivors’ speakers’ bureau, poster exhibits, videotapes, and other resource materials are available for community use. A variety of programs in schools, churches, and civic organizations help us teach others about the Holocaust. The Commission also hosts an annual community-wide Yom HaShoa observance. A newsletter for victims of Holocaust persecution is produced and distributed quarterly. The newsletter provides timely information about upcoming events, information from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany (Claims Conference), and articles that may be of interest to the survivor community. |

Hasbarah : ISRAEL AWARENESS AND ADVOCACY

Responsible for interpreting Israel 's position to the Jewish and general communities and maintaining American public support for Israel ; coordinating Israel-oriented celebrations and special events.
It is vital for our community to be continually updated on the facts surrounding the present situation in the Middle East . In pursuing this goal, The associated and the Baltimore Jewish Council (BJC) have expanded their Israel educational programming. Every eight weeks we sponsor “ Israel parlor meetings,” which cover various speakers and topics.

POLITICALLY CONNECT

A series of forums designed to engage young adults, ages 22-45, in politics and Jewish communal activities. Featuring prominent public officials and national experts, Young Adult Political Forums allow young Jewish adults to learn about and participate in politics and public affairs.

It is an intensive training program, which provides the tools to become a leader in the Jewish community. Hands-on workshops, meetings, and programs throughout the year help prepare participants for the challenges facing the Jewish people today and into the future. |
