Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam (”Oasis of Peace”) was conceived as a place that could be a model for peaceful co-existence between Arabs and Jews living in Israel. For more than twenty-five years, Jewish and Arab citizens of Israel have lived in Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam, which teaches tolerance, understanding, and mutual respect well beyond its own borders by being a model for peace.

Please join us for a discussion with two former Mayors of Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam, Abdessalam Najjar and Eitain Kremer, “Co-existence in Israel: Current Challenges & Prospects for the Future.”

Abdessalam Najjar has lived in Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam for more than 22 years. Born in the village of Arrabe, Abdessalam was raised in a strictly orthodox Muslim home. He has just left his post as the Secretary General (Mayor) of Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam.

Eitain Kremer has also lived in Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam for more than 22 years. Born in Israel, he was among the first four families to bring his family to live in the community. He was one of the first to serve as the village's Secretary General (Mayor).

We hope that you can join us for this informative and special program. Please call LoReal Russell at the Baltimore Jewish Council with your attendance and lunch plans, 410-542-4850 or email lrussell@baltjc.org.
