Legislative Coalitions

The Baltimore Jewish Council is a member of, and actively participates in, many coalitions that advocate for various social justice issues that pertain to the work of THE ASSOCIATED and its agencies.  Many of the coalitions focus their work to make the largest impact during the Maryland General Assembly session.  The coalitions use the interim time to meet with officials, educate their members and develop advocacy plans for the next session.

Below is a list of the coalitions with further information about their agendas and membership.  To read a monthly update about the current work of some of the coalitions, click here.  For more information about the coalitions, or to find out how you can get involved, please contact Michelle Bernstein.

  • Energy Advocates (EA)
  • Maryland Alliance for the Poor (MAP)
  • Maryland Interfaith Legislative Committee (MILC)
  • Maryland Senior Citizens Action Network (MSCAN)
  • Coalition Opposed to Violence and Extremism (COVE)
  • Baltimore Jewish Environmental Network (BJEN)
  • Marylanders for Reproductive Choice (MRC)

  • The Baltimore Jewish Council often works with additional coalitions as new legislative priorities arise on an ad hoc basis.  We are not a member of these coalitions but sometimes our legislative agendas in Annapolis overlap.  Click here for a list of some of the groups with which we have worked.
