The Baltimore-Ashkelon Partnership between THE ASSOCIATED: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore and the city of Ashkelon launched in 2003. The partnership between the two communities provides our residents a wonderful opportunity to bond with our brothers and sisters overseas on issues of shared concern, with the goal of strengthening relations among Jews in Israel and the Diaspora.
Shared concerns in the two communities include:
• Building Jewish identity through volunteer and leadership opportunities
• Developing the Ashkelon economy
• Educating Ashkelonis and Baltimoreans about Jews in their sister city
Core groups of lay and professional leaders in both Baltimore and Ashkelon are now working together to develop projects and programs that benefit the people of both communities.
Mission:
The Baltimore-Ashkelon Partnership strives to jointly strengthen our communities and our Jewish identities by building relationships and sharing resources.
Vision:
Creating an enduring partnership in which all Jews in Ashkelon and Baltimore find meaning in their relationships with each other, to Judaism, Israel, and the Jewish people, embracing our common destiny and strengthening Jewish peoplehood.
