Meet our President, Laura Black
Laura Black, an accomplished business women and entrepreneur, is an active community leader and advocate for women on issues relating to business development and self empowerment. She was recently installed as President of The ASSOCIATED Women and prior to that held the position of Women’s Campaign Chair.
Ms. Black co-founded one of the nation's first temporary legal staffing companies. As CEO, she helped drive this business into one of the largest temporary legal staffing companies in the country. She has received numerous awards and extensive recognition as a top woman in business and community leadership. As a strong community leader, she serves on numerous boards including the University Of Maryland School of Law Board of Visitors, Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and THE ASSOCIATED: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore. She is a past president of Network 2000.

It is the mission of CHANA: Counseling, Helpline & Aid Network for Abused Women to aid individuals in the Jewish community who are victims of domestic violence by providing support, counseling and assistance—empowering women to create a safe environment for themselves and their families.

Every year, the Women’s Department has 2-3 Passport Parties. Passport Parties are intimate gatherings of 20-50 women who come together to learn about the Jewish Community in a country that the JDC helps. Passport Parties usually feature a speaker from the country that is being learned about. In the past, we have learned about the Jewish Communities in Cuba, China, South Africa, Ukraine, Greece, and many more. Passport Parties allow women to travel without packing and suitcase!

Ashkelon Partnership
Make a Personal Connection with Ashkelon! This newly launched program allows women and their families in Baltimore to be matched with another women and her family in Ashkelon in hopes of forming direct personal relationships between the families and, in turn, the cities.
