Uzi Eilam’s military career spanned decades. He commanded one of the three paratrooper battalions that broke into Jerusalem under Mota Gur and later served in military R&D at IDF headquarters. After retiring from the IDF, Eilam served as the Chief Scientist and Director of Research and Development for Israel’s  Ministry of Defense and led the Israeli Atomic Energy Commission as its Director General.  Eilam has served as Senior Research Fellow at The Jaffee Center since 2002. He is the author of L'Europe de la Défense (2005) and Eilam's Arc: How Israel Became a Military Technology Powerhouse (2011).

The conversation will be moderated by Dr. Bob Freedman, visiting professor at Johns Hopkins University, scholar on international relations, and member of the Baltimore Jewish Council’s board.
